Newsletter #5 November 2022

Welcome to the Evolve Workplace Wellbeing newsletter – November 2022

NEW FREE EBOOK ON EMPLOYEE WELLBEING IN HYBRID WORKING
The book explores links between employees’ work behaviours and lifestyle, health, wellbeing and workplace outcomes. It asks whether workplace behaviours (as assessed using novel data – including Microsoft-collected workplace behaviour data) are associated with employee wellbeing and how employee performance metrics might be improved. https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_reports/RRA2083-1.html
PrOPEL Hub INSIGHTS AND LEGACIES CONFERENCE
Our sister project, the ESRC-funded PrOPEL Hub launched in early 2020 bringing together experts across nine Universities and the CIPD with a common interest in good workplace practice for wellbeing and productivity. On the 15th and 16th November we will be running a two-day conference to share what we have learned and to identify next steps for the PrOPEL Hub. Join us for free on either or both days in Glasgow.

WHY DOES FAIR WORK MATTER? WATCH VIDEO INSIGHTS
Researchers at the University of Strathclyde explored fairness at work, gathering 3665 employee responses and 126 interviews with CEOs, HR managers, line managers and other stakeholders. This video and blog on their research reveals that when balancing job demands and resources, it is possible to increase work engagement, performance, and innovation. At the same time, exhaustion is reduced by maintaining the well-being of employees. https://www.propelhub.org/fair-work-for-engagement-innovation-and-productivity/
FEEDBACK ON OUR WEBSITE WITH PROPEL HUB EVALUATORS We love providing you with evidence-informed resources on workplace wellbeing. We hope you feel the same! To prove our worth for potential future projects in this area and / or improve our work where you see gaps, we need your feedback. Would you be willing to have a short conversation with PrOPEL Hub evaluators from the University of Strathclyde about the Evolve Workplace Wellbeing team’s work and impact?   If so – please contact Carolina and Colin using this link: https://strathbusiness.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bK46AdtDe0Oje62
DID YOU KNOW EVOLVE WORKPLACE WELLBEING IS ON YOUTUBE?
If you did not make it to our launch event in May, you can relive the event by watching Dame Professor Carol Black’s introduction, overviews of different parts of the Evolve Workplace Wellbeing toolkit and the short animation that summarises all of our research into just over 2 minutes!! Other videos like ‘4 boosts for frontline workers’ are also available. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs6qIoSJddiVXdEF7CGXvCQ
HOW FAR DO YOU WANT TO GO WITH WORKPLACE WELLBEING? INTERVIEWS – TAKE PART! We ran a survey earlier in the year on fairness, responsibility and impact of workplace wellbeing initiatives. We are now analysing the data and will tell you the results soon. If you left your email address for a short interview on the topic, we will be in touch with you very soon to follow-up. If you did not take part but would be willing to add your opinion to our work, please follow the link to the survey and (even if you don’t have time to complete the survey) go to the end and leave us your email address. To even up our sample, we are particularly looking for male respondents and those in historically more male-dominated industries. We’d love to hear from you. https://evolveworkplacewellbeing.org/how-far-do-you-want-to-go-with-workplace-wellbeing-survey-on-the-ethics-of-workplace-wellbeing/
