Mental health support stalls as presenteeism hits post-pandemic high

A major six-year study from our friends at the Enterprise Research Centre (ERC) at Warwick Business School revealed that while mental health challenges in English workplaces are widespread and increasing, employer adoption of supportive practices has stalled and is now at its lowest level since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The study involved longitudinal research, carried out between 2020-2025, consisting of employer surveys, in-depth interviews with managers, an employee survey and case study research. It was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), building on initial research funded by the Midlands Engine.
